Thermodynamic Analysis Modelling of In Situ Al-Ti-B Alloy Formed by Fluorine Salt Method

Abstract Al-Ti-B master alloy is currently the most widely used grain refiner in aluminum alloys. Reaction controlling plays an important role changing microstructure and improving refining effect. In this paper, prepared by fluoride salt method, control of in-situ generated phases realized establishing a thermodynamic analysis modelling. Results show that reactant change caused difference system directly determines reaction sequence, which turn affects type quantity phases. The combination elemental Ti B affected system. When KBF 4 firstly consumed, TiB 2 TiAl 3 are produced. And when K TiF 6 only AlB Thermal balance calculation results indicate aluminothermic has contribution to pool temperature, facilitates improve kinetic conditions reduction reaction.
